We are in a time of increased tensions, uncertainties and changes in the Catholic Church . Particularly troubling is the loss of moral authority resulting from the continuing sexual abuse crisis and evidence of institutional coverup. The purpose of this site is to examine what is happening by linking to worldwide news stories, particularly from the English speaking church and the new breath of fresh air blowing through the church with the pontificate of Pope Francis. Cappa Magna
Is Mass about the people of God worshiping together or is it a show for preening hierarchs? Seeing the use of the cappa magna (great firered cape) in the tridentine mass reminds me of the court of a medieval king. Having a flunky carry your train shows how important the prince is and superior to the peasants. The further description of this Mass said there was 20-30 minutes of performance (music, processions, etc) before a word was directed to the congregation.
This is not a good sign.
